We all know water is the ultimate cure for dehydration, but there are plenty of other ways to replace what may have been lost after sweating hard or overheating.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Load up on citric fruits, veggies and juices to replace what is lost during dehydration. Oranges, red bell peppers, guava, pineapple and pomegranate are a few to perk you up. Lemon, grapefruit, cabbage and broccoli are also on the list with plenty of vitamin C.

Mint, Cucumber & Pomegranate

Adding mint and cucumber to your water provides antioxidants even more powerful than that of green tea and will save you the caffeine intake, which can dehydrate us. Pomegranate juice is known for its potent anti-inflammatory agents and will help with a fever and generally regulating the body’s temperature.

Water-Rich Foods

Watermelon, strawberries, cantaloupe, peaches, broth, celery are all excellent choices with other added nutrients to keep us hydrated. Milk is also a superior way to hydrate as it is mostly made of water, but also contains vitamins and minerals to stabilize core temperature. We recommend nut or soy milks as they are much lower in calories, fats, and protein which can absorb water.

The benefits of staying hydrated go far beyond just staying cool. Optimal brain function, steady energy levels, and glowing skin will inspire you to go with the flow and keep that water bottle near!
